Lähiretki kotikulmilla tuotti mukavan yllätyksen, kun kuolevasta kuusikosta löytyi kaksi pikkutikkaa ja kaksi koiras pohjantikkaa. Sääennusteiden vastaisesti aurinko näyttäytyi vain ajoittain ja lumettomassa kuusikossa oli varsin niukasti valoa.

Today's expedition into the woods nearby gave a pleasant surprise as I found two Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers and two male Three-toed Woodpeckers. Opposite to what the weather forecast had promised, it was sunny only occasionally and there was very little light in the practically snowless spruce wood. In this week's photo a Three-toed Woodpecker is trying to intimidate its opponent with defiant posture and cockily held head.
