Lumi vaikuttaa lintujen elämään monin tavoin, mutta se tuo myös valoa maisemaan ja tekee kuvaamisen mahdolliseksi talven lyhyimpinäkin päivinä.

Tämän kirjan kuvissa lumi on mukana joko näkyvänä elementtinä, ekologisena tekijänä tai vain heijastaessaan valoa niin, että myös lintujen alapuoli voi hehkua hienoissa väreissään toisin kuin sulan maan oloissa otetuissa kuvissa. Pitkän lumisen vuodenaikansa ansiosta Suomi onkin luontokuvaajan toivemaa, jonne moni ulkomaalainen kuvaaja hakeutuu hienon valon vuoksi.

Linnut Vauhdissa-kirjan tapaan Lumen Valossa on kuvakirja, jossa kuvasivujen jälkeen kerrotaan lyhyesti kuvien taustoista, ja kerrotaan tekniset tiedot.

Birds and Light of Snow

Snow affects birds in a multitude of ways, but snow is also an element for photography - snow brings light into the scene making photography possible even in the shortest of winter days.

Snow is there in every photo throughout the book, either as a visible element, an ecological factor or when light reflects off snow making a bird's underside glow with all its fine colours in a way that is not possible when the ground is free of snow. The long winter season makes Finland an ideal place for wildlife photography and is a favourite destination for many photographers from other countries. The book is very visual, each spread has a maximum of two images. Short descriptions of each image plus their technical details accompany the thumbnails at the end of the book.
